The pictures taken at the event are also available using the album menu. For the academic papers, we are working on publishing the conference proceedings. We will immediately inform you when the conference proceedings publication is released. Despite all this year’s successes, we are also aware of our mistakes and gaps in making improvements. We would also like to apologize for any mistakes or inconveniences that you may have experienced while attending the symposium. We will continue improving our event to meet your satisfaction. Only 1 week to #TRAS2019
TRAS2019 will start in 7 days and the full programme of the conference is now available online at: http://trasymposium.org/2019/06/07/programme/
Day 1 will start with an opening speech and guest speakers from UN ESCAP and three world’s megacities of Bangkok, London and Tokyo. After lunch a session on Innovation in Rail Education will take place with a panel represented by experts from academia and industry. Also, papers in English will be presented. In the afternoon a special visit to a new MRT station in Chinatown, by invitation only, will be organised.
Day 2 will be packed with papers in Thai and covering topics of rail transport policy as well as urban rail transit in provincial regions and Bangkok. The event is expected to finish by 4pm on Friday 22nd November.
8 Nov 2019 : 2 weeks to TRAS2019
There are only 2 weeks left to #TRAS2019. We expect about 200 representatives of academia and industry from Thailand and beyond to attend the 2-day event in the capital city of Thailand. 19 papers related to urban rail transit issues as well as thematic sessions, including rail skills and education, will be organised. TRAS proceedings with Springer.
TRAS committee has just finalised an agreement with Springer Nature Singapore, where they confirm their intention to publish TRAS2019 conference proceedings as a collection of selected papers in one volume. All TRAS authors will be informed in advance and asked to specify if they agree for their papers to be included in the publication. The proceedings will have an official title of: ‘Urban Rail Transit – Proceedings of the 6th Thailand Rail Academic Symposium’ and all manuscripts are expected to be ready after the conference, which takes place on 21-22nd November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. A team of four international transport researchers, which includes Dr Phumin Kirawanich, Dr Waressara Weerawat, Dr Anna Fraszczyk and Dr Marin Marinov, will be acting as editors of the proceedings’ volume.
15 Oct 2019 : 5 weeks to TRAS2019
The 6th edition of TRAS 2019 will start in 5 weeks.
The organisers have now received papers from Thai and international authors’ teams and all will be presented at the conference on 21st and 22nd of November 2019 in Bangkok. The majority of papers focus on urban rail transit issues in Thailand, but the international papers present cases from the UK, China, Japan and Indonesia. The programme of the conference is now being finalised with sessions in English in Day 1 dedicated to urban rail transit in megacities (London and Tokyo), paper presentations and a forum on innovation in rail education. Day 2, with sessions mainly in Thai, will focus on urban rail transit in Thailand (Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket and Bangkok), rail transport policy, rail industry as well as paper presentations in English. In addition, two by initiation-only events are planned with a site visit at Sanamchai MRT Station on Day 1 and a conference dinner on Day 2.
6th Thailand Rail Academic Symposium / 21-22 November 2019 / Bangkok, Thailand
The Thailand Rail Academic Symposium (TRAS) is the largest rail event addressed to academics and industry in Thailand and sponsored by National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office. The 6th edition of the TRAS 2019 is co-organised by Mahidol University and the Thai Railway Engineering Association and will take place in Bangkok, Thailand on 21-22 November 2019.
The theme of the 6th edition of TRAS 2019 is ‘Urban Rail Transit’. The 2-day event will attract both rail academia and industry from Thailand. Moreover, for the first time TRAS opens the call for papers for international academics based outside of Thailand. Academic oral sessions will showcase scientific papers on rail research while industry sessions will welcome policy makers, rail industry and the public. In addition, a rail exhibition will be open to all.
